About

First Christian Church is a New Testament fellowship of immersed believers whose purpose is to proclaim the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior until He comes. Through domestic and foreign mission, local outreach and evangelism, we are committed to using our God given gifts and resources to express God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Vision                                     “Loving People Where They Are”

Mission Statement           “To save the lost, teach the saved, minister to those in need, and be a light for Christ in our community and the world.”

Beliefs

Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, came to restore man’s broken relationship with God through His finished work on the cross. Because of His love demonstrated on the cross by dying for our sins, we now have a reason for fellowship with one another, proclaiming salvation through His life, death, and resurrection. (I Cor. 15:3-4, 2 Cor. 4:13-14, Eph. 2:19-20)

Salvation is a gift from God received by grace through faith and repentance.  In obedience to scripture, believers are baptized into the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins which also symbolizes the new birth. (Acts 2:38, Rom. 6:1-4, Rom.10:9-10, 2 Cor. 5:17)

The Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God and is relevant and applicable to man today.  Therefore, we place great emphasis upon teaching it in public, studying it in private, and using it as a guide for our daily lives.  (I Thess. 2:13, I Tim. 4:13, 2 Tim. 3:16-17)

Through Worship we believe God is worthy of all praise, reverence, and love.  In song, prayer, praise, and proclamation it is our goal to worship Him with our whole lives as well as at home, at work, and at play.  (John 4:23, Col. 3:16, I Thess. 5:16-18)

Growing in Christ and to being conformed to His image, likeness, and example by the power of the Holy Spirit is our earnest goal.  We encourage this by abiding in Jesus Christ through His Word, prayer, fellowship and by yielding our lives to the Holy Spirit and His power. (John 15:5, Acts, 2:42, Rom. 8:29, Eph. 4:15)

Love is the greatest virtue and demonstration of the reality of Jesus Christ.  We endeavor to show a Christ-like love toward all men.  Love should be exhibited in our lives by our words as well as our actions.  (John 13:34-35,  I Cor. 13:13, Phil. 2:3-5)

Evangelism – Our goal as a congregation is to bring people into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ accomplished by scriptural directives through local and foreign ministries. (Matt. 28:18-20, Acts 1:8, Rom. 10:12-15)

Our emphasis as a congregation will be toward full involvement by our members in worship, Bible studies and in local ministries. Christian service is a part of the Christian life and is the responsibility of all believers. (I Cor. 12:4-7, Eph. 4:11-13, James 1:22-27)
